Yes because he was beginning to believe in battle he couldn't be defeated.

How am I being arrogant? I am just asking how does he know that for sure when he has never met the guy and hasnt read up extensively on him as I have. Now I am not saying that I met the guy but I know what he was like.
But anyways, what do you guys no on Robert E. Lee?

Look you may be an expert on military history (I am not disputing that) but that doesn't mean I haven't read extensively on military history either.
Robert E. Lee, a Civil War general if I remember correctly. If my memory seves me well he was for the Confederates but I may be wrong on that.

Yes, he was on the Confederate side.
He was loyal to his country, but his real loyalty lay with his home state and his family which just so happened to be Confederate..... I assume it was a hard decision for him......
(Caserdonian, I don't want any further comment, but the reason I said that is because you're not allowing Zarog to have an opinion just because you automatically assume that you've read more about Napoleon.... Arrogance is a perfect way to start a flame war and you know I do NOT want anymore......)

I am not sure about all of that because I haven't really read much about him. I just did my report that I had to do over him and called it good. However I used to know a lot about Ulysses S. Grant.

As did I, but I have recently forgotten. But Lee could have won the war for the Confederacy if the government had supplied with all the necessities needed for his army to live a long life.

Possibly but he was up against an equal so we don't know that for sure. (I am playing devil's advocate, but I do agree with you.)

RR & I have both said that we will delete anything that remotely resembles a flame war. We have been lenient until now. If you do not want your posts deleted, watch what you are posting.

I agree with LT.
We've warned you guys repeatedly that we will do this if you post anything that might start a flame war.

Possibly but he was up against an equal so we don't know that for sure. (I am playing devil's advocate, but I do agree with you.) Whatever, just try not to do it so much. Dont do it so much because I think you guys are getting insecure about flame wars. Yes I do start a flame war from time to time, but now it is just getting out of hand. Because people should have the right to express their opinions, just as long as it does not get too out of check. True he was up against an equal. But his army was not not supplied enough and he did not have enough troops to beat Grants army.

Yes his army wasn't supplied enough because the North had taken the forts and the railroads that the Confederates needed to supply themselves. Thanks to the strategy of Grant he took important forts and others that the south needed to keep themselves prepaired for what ever happened to them.
(Yeah i was bored one day and read a book on the Civil War)
