He most likely had some kind of bad, probably allergic, reaction to the drugs.

Most likely.
A first time experience with drugs shouldn't be that bad.
Also, people tend to lose their voice after an allergic reaction.

I just got done reading "Lord Brocktree" by Brian Jacques. I've never read any of his work before (yeah I know, shocking ) and I this one forum I belong to started a discussion on his series, sort of dragged me into it so I decided what the hey, I'll check out one of his books, see what it's like.

I've honestly haven't read any of Brian Jacques' works. Which is apparently sacrilege to some other fellow fantasy fans.
I think I have a few Redwall books around home, but I've never found the initiative to read them.

I think I have a few Redwall books around home, but I've never found the initiative to read them. Yeah well I haven't either until now. He IS a good writer, better than I had thought when I started the book. Apparently the story goes that he first got into writing that kind of stuff as a kid, had to do a short story about animals in school, so he wrote something about a bird cleaning a crocodile's teeth. Apparently it was so well written that his teacher didn't believe a 10 year old had done that and caned him for "plagiarizing"

Ha, plagiarizing would have been A LOT harder to accomplish back then compared to today (internet, anyone?). I've written some short stories myself, but I'm too self-conscious to share them .

Yeah I know exactly, but apparently they were just as strict about it then as they are now. Of course you don't get caned these days though ;D
Hah! Coincidentally so have I but yes like you I don't share them very often.

Hmm... what kind of stories have you written? The longest (and still far from finished) story I have written is an attempt at cyberpunk/ Neo-Noir science fiction. I'm weird in that fact that I often think up the ending, and/ or the climax of my writings BEFORE I actually start to write them. A blessing and curse .
