I am too. It is quite an interesting subject. You know if Hitler hadn't been such a bad strategist we might all be speaking German.

He didn't need to be a great strategist when he had generals such as Rommel.

Yes but he was the one giving the commands even though he had advisors. I thought Stalin wasn't a bad strategist. He was okay.

No, what Hiler was good at was public speaking. He was an excellent public speaker and he really knew how to rouse his people.
Stalin was not very good..... the U.S.S.R. had the highest causalty rate.....

They were less technologically advanced though, I believe so anyway. Rommel would have won in africa if the british didn't have the german code machine. It's amazing how hard they found it even after being able to intercept and read all of his messages...the germans are amazing strategists.

Rommel's death was an unfortunate one.......
Unlinke his leader, he held a high level of respect amongst his enemies. Though, Hitler's paranoia (may it had been true or not) got to the best of him and he got rid of Rommel.... for good. Probably wasn't his best decision... next to repeating history and invading Russia in the winter.....

Stalin was an idiot when it came to warfare. He had a casualty rate of at least 6 million soldiers.
The one general who was really good was, General George Patton. He is one of my heroes, along with Napoleon, Winston Churchill, and Robert E. Lee.

Obviously you take a general dream team from a bunch of different eras.

Actually if you have read some of the plans Stalin had made but was forced not to carry out you might have changed your mind. I have some documentary book about it but I am not sure where it is.

Nobody forced him to do anything........... He was a totalitarian leader.

Nevermind. I know that I would have to explain another load of crap before I could get to Stalin so we will just say he was a crappy strategist.

Funny story about Waterloo...the people who live int he town think that Napoleon won the battle against the Prince of Orange. There is a butte built with a lion on top, representing the Prince, and everyone thinks that it is for Napoleon. I went to it, and climbed to the top...It was gorgeous, the scenery around it was just breathtaking! However, just a few minutes away, there is a location that is the last place that Napoleon stayed at while in Waterloo. It contains his deathbed and mask. It was quite surreal to see how small Napoleon was.

But you have to admit that before Russia and before Waterloo, he was a brilliant commander.

Maybe I should find a better response he was. If he just wouldn't have traveled so far into Russia he may have been able to make a retreat before the winter hit.
