Well do you know what he was famous for? Are you kidding me? The Lionheart is not an obscure historical figure... hes probably one the most well known Medieval Europe kings. He spent a good portion of his rule at the Crusades. He's known for trying to take back Jerusalem and was able to strike an uneasy truce with Saladin... to name a couple... There are many things he is famous for.

Maybe I should find a better response...that is why I asked that.

You asked for it, you were asking a fan of medieval history if they've ever heard of King Richard "The Lionheart" I .

Thats not medieval. He was king of France from the mid-1600's to the early-1700's, if I'm not mistaken.
Not my personal area of expertise.

Medieval warlord who conquered much of western asia.
Don't know much else about him except he's from modern day Uzbekistan and he's more commonly known by his change of name, Timur.

Would that be the Shogun, Clan or Historical Period?

Probably the Shogun since he was trying to prove his historical knowledge might by quizzing me on random leaders. Of course though, who's to say that he didn't just look them up on Wikipedia?

And we all know that Wikipedia is not reliable at all...
|
|
|
Post by Renegade Replicant on May 13, 2007 20:39:02 GMT -5
Thats not necessarily true.
Wikipedia can be very reliable, there are just a few instances when its not and its easy to know when someone has been typing up crap.
If you read a statement that seems unlikely, check for a citation to an outside source. If there is none, its pretty obvious that its not true.
Also, most vandalism gets reverted pretty quickly.
Truly, I personally find Wikipedia to be the best source of info anywhere.
